Goody Petronelli; trained champions at Brockton boxing gym
Not long after Goody Petronelli opened a gym with his brother Pat to train boxers, in walked a young man who would become known as Marvelous Marvin Hagler. “I believe Goody Petronelli was the best trainer in the world,’’ said Hagler, who thought of Mr. Petronelli and his brother as the foundation of his career for 20 years. “Besides that, he was an unbelievably great human being who loved his family very much. . . . Thank you Goody for all you did for me.’’
