Winnie Mandela leads pallbearers in 1990 at the funeral of Clayton Sithole, who died in South African police custody. On the eve of Nelson Mandela's release, a thousand mourners gathered on the red dirt of Dobsonville to lay Clayton Sithole to rest. He was a member of the military wing of the ANC. Eleven days prior Sithole was found hanged in his cell at the John Voster Square police station in Johannesburg. Winnie Mandela's daughter Zinzi gave birth to a son fathered by Sithole.
