Elmanie Joseph has an emergency cesarean that saved the life of her and her baby, Samuel in Cange, Haiti in July of 2003. This Zanmi Lasante (through Boston-based Partners in Health) hospital offers surgical capacity that saves hundreds of women's lives each year in an area where previously one in 16 women died in childbirth.
