For this first time this summer, mosquitoes harboring West Nile virus have been discovered in Massachusetts, state health authorities reported today. A pool of infected insects was discovered in Needham. No human cases have been reported, the Department of Public Health said. The virus has arrived in the state nearly a month earlier than last year, when the first pool of mosquitoes carrying West Nile was not reported until July 25.
