« Looking for the next big thing in Newton | Main | Federal ID fraud sweep touches Framingham » Tuesday, June 13, 2006Windshields in jeopardyFans of baseball in Boston's western suburbs, this is your time of year. The American Legion baseball season -- featuring many of the area's best high school and young college players -- is underway. There's a super matchup to get things started in Zone 5, as Newton travels to Ashland tonight (7 p.m.). Newton manager Manny Connerney relayed a story about he had his club together at a recent practice, but had to delay the workout because cars needed to be moved in the outfield. One of Connerney's players, Sam Shaughnessy, was cranking so many home runs that windshields were in jeopardy. We'll have more on Legion baseball -- and some changes in Zone 5 -- in Thursday's editions of GlobeWest. -- Mike Reiss Posted by the Boston Globe City & Region Desk at 03:13 PM
