The Newton School Committee voted last night to embark on what members are calling one of the most ambitious and comprehensive planning processes in the history of the city's schools.
School Committee member Marc Laredo said the new Strategic Planning Initiative will examine every aspect of the school system - from curriculum to personnel to buildings - and lay out a road map for the future. The committee will be seeking public input on a wide range of plans and possibilities, including adopting a K-8 format, offering bilingual education, and the role of art and music in the schools, Laredo said.
"We're going to try to think big picture and to prioritize," Laredo said.
