Five years after 9/11

REGION

Michael Casey of Wellesley lost his wife, Neilie, in the 9/11 catastrophe. John Creamer of Shrewsbury lost his wife, Tara, that day. Ysuff and Haleema Salie of Newton lost their daughter, Rahma.

They tell the story of how they have coped with their losses in The Boston Globe Magazine today.

The Salies say that "Not reflecting too much on the past and looking toward the future" has helped them cope.

The two widowers talked of their devotion to their small children and the need help them through.

"You know that cliche, failure is not an option? You've just got to do it. And that's what you find yourself doing," said Creamer, who has a nine-year-old and a six-year-old.
