No shortage of highlights, or superlative performances, from Week 3 of the area high school football season.
Here's a recap of our 5 games to watch from Friday and Saturday. Also a tip of the cap to longtime Lincoln-Sudbury coach Tom Lopez, who earned his 200th career win with Friday night's 48-23 victory over St. Bernard's.
Norwood at Natick: Anthony Smalls (156 yards, 2 TDs), Redmen (4-0) rush to their 19th straight win, 35-14 over Norwood. Tom Lamb's squad hosts Brookline on Friday night.
Medway at Holliston: Matt Bellomo scores a pair of touchdowns and the host Panthers execute Todd Kiley's defensive gameplan to perfection, handing Medway its first loss of the season.
Marlborough at St. Peter Marian: Quarterback Nick Yurovich (138 yards passing , 71 yards rushing) powers the Panthers to a 4-0 start with a 21-14 win in Worcester, setting up a monster showdown at fellow 1A unbeaten Milford Friday night.
Shrewsbury at St. John's: The host Pioneers (3-1) stopped Shrewsbury four times from inside the 1 to pull out the 14-7 victory. Star of the week -- Mark Hogan, Lincoln-Sudbury: Junior tailback rushed for a school-record 313 yards and 4 touchdowns on 15 carries in Warriors' vitory.
