After a relatively quiet start, the pace of programming at the Newton Cultural Center is starting to pick up.

The latest addition to the Nevada Street center's repertoire comes this weekend, when Newton Open Studios will hold its first-ever Autumn Art Show of fine art and original crafts.

The show runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 20, 21, and 22, and features the work of 90 Newton fine artists and craftspeople. All work will be offered for sale and admission is free. Organizers say the exhibit will be set up like a gallery and museum shop at the Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street in Newtonville.

Hours are Friday and Saturday, 11:00 to 8:00 and Sunday 11:00 to 5:00, with artists receptions Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 8:00. For more information, art lovers can go online or call 617-935-9955.
