Approaching Newton Centre

NEWTON

Small, medium, or super size? Some choices are tough.

Exhibit A: the Newton Centre Task Force. The group's three subcommittees -- “Better Not Bigger,” “Suited to a T," and “Smart Growth” -- are apparently at odds over how much of the area to build and how much to leave green, how high the buildings should be, whether there should be extra housing, and where parking lots could go.

The disagreement has prompted task force leaders to postpone a meeting, originally scheduled for this week, at which different approaches to remaking the village were to have been discussed.
