Dessert: high school football playoffs


The Thanksgiving Day high school football feast is over, but the season is not complete for six area teams. In Eastern Massachusetts, Dual County League champ Wayland (11-0), Bay State Herget winner Natick (11-0), Tri-Valley League champ Medfield (10-1) and Catholic Central Small winner Marian (9-2) have just three days to prepare for Tuesday night's playoff games. In Central Massachusetts, Division 1 runner-up St. John's Shrewsbury (8-3) and Division 1A champ Milford (10-1) advance to next Saturday's Super Bowls against Western Mass. foes. The matchups:

Tuesday's Eastern Mass. playoff games:
Division 1A: Wayland vs. Central Catholic (Cawley Stadium, Lowell, 7 p.m.)
Division 2: Natick vs. Burlington (Leary Field, Acton-Boxboro, 7 p.m.)
Division 3: Medfield vs. Abington (Marciano Stadium,Brockton, 7 p.m.)
Division 4: Marian vs. Brighton (W.B. Mason Field, Stonehill College, 4 p.m.)


Saturday's Central Mass./Western Mass. Super Bowls:
Division 1 runner-up: St. John's Shrewsbury vs. Minnechaug (Worcester State, 5 p.m.)
Division 1A: Milford vs. South Hadley (Roberts Stadium, Holyoke, 2 p.m.)
