The Newtonville Historic District Commission is considering making it easier for homeowners in the district to alter their property in the wake of some citizensí complaints.
Emily Norton, of 58 Prescott St. said she and about 16 of her neighbors showed up at a meeting last week to ask if they could opt out of the district. Instead Marcia Johnson, the alderman at large from Ward 2, brokered a compromise that might allow the homeowners to use less expensive materials than those now required for home alterations.
Norton also said that her group might get a seat on the district commission in the future.
