New year, same unbeatable story for the Bentley College men's basketball team.
Playing for the first time in 13 days, the unbeaten Falcons won their 13th straight game with an 81-58 rout of host Southern Connecticut State in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup in New Haven, Conn. Wednesday night.
Sophomore guard Lew Finnegan of Lexington paced Bentley, ranked fourth nationally in Division 2, with a career-high 24 points and senior forward Jeff Holmes (18 points) converted nine of his 10 shots from the floor.
Leading by six (37-31) at the half, the Falcons buried 17 of their first 22 shots in the second half to open up a 77-50 cushion with six minutes left. Finnegan (10-of-15 from the field) scored nine of his 24 points during the run. He also led the Falcons with six rebounds. Freshman guard Jason Westrol (11 points) and junior forward Nate Fritsch (10) also scored in double figures for the Falcons.
Next up for Bentley is a Saturday afternoon visit from NE-10 foe Southern New Hampshire (Dana Center, 3:30 p.m.)
