Karen Chambers, 42, of Fort Covington, pleaded guilty in November to second-degree criminal solicitation, a Class D felony. She admitted she had planned the murder so she could inherit money to open a day-care center. Chambers promised her neighbor a $10,000 pay check for the murder of Thomas Bartlett, 70. She provided the would-be killer with an atlas and directions to Bartlett's Bellingham home, authorities said. Fort Covington is 180 miles northeast of Syracuse.
