Beat goes on for Bentley

SPORTS

The Bentley men's basketball team took their game national Saturday afternoon, putting their perfect 22-0 mark on the line against Stonehill College in a CSTV-televised game in front of a packed house at the Dana Center.

The Falcons didn't disappoint.

Senior forward Jeff Holmes scored 15 points, junior point guard Yusuf Abdul-Ali added 14 points, six rebounds and six assists, and Bentley dominated on the boards in a 68-51 Northeast-10 Conference win over Stonehill.

The Falcons, ranked second nationally in Division II, outrebounded the visiting Skyhawks 44-25 to improve to 23-0, the best start in New England Division II history, and 19-0 in the NE-10. Stonehill, 1-6 in its last seven games and winless in its last 12 games against the Falcons, dipped to 13-11 overall and 8-11 in the conference.

Freshman Jason Westrol was Bentley’s third double-figure scorer, finishing with 12 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Nate Fritsch led the winners in rebounds, with nine.

Bentley will remain at home to host American International College Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
