Highlighting the top performances from Sunday's area state tournament action:
*Matt LaBove and David White, Saint John's: The two underclassmen were immense in the Pioneers' 56-49 Division 1 Central semifinal comeback win over top-seeded Milford. Showing athleticism and fire, LaBove, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, collected 14 points 14 rebounds. White, a 5-10 freshman guard who plays with unbridled confidence, paced St. John's with 19 points and triggered an 8-0, game-tying run with back-to-back hoops.
*Chris Pinsonault, Marlborough: Senior guard poured in a game-high 26 points in his final high school game, a 74-64 loss to Holy Name in the Division 1 Central semifinals.
*Marybeth Ash, Westborough: Senior forward scored a team-high 16 points in the unbeaten Rangers' 64-47 victory over Shepherd Hill in the Division 1 Central semifinals.
WHAT'S ON TAP:
The tourney focus shifts from the court to the ice tonight, with four local puck squads in action:
*The Weston High boys hockey team (17-1-2), top-seeded in Division 3 North, faces DCL/MVC foe Dracut in a quarterfinal match at the Watertown Skating Arena (7:30 p.m.).
* There are three Division 3 Central games tonight: Marlborough vs. Leominster (NESC, 5:30 p.m.); Grafton/Valley Tech vs. Gardner (NESN, 8 p.m.) and Auburn vs. Westborough (NorthStar, 7:20 p.m.).
* On the court, the Wellesley boys' basketball team takes on host O'Bryant in a Division 2 South quarterfinal while the Marian boys face Cathedral in a Division 4 South semifinal in Brockton at 7.
