Would a town manager make Upton more managable or can the town manage without one?

UPTON

A committee set up to study whether Upton should create a town manager position will hold a public forum on the issue sometime next month.

The committee has already recommended to selectmen that the town create the position, and Selectmen chairwoman Marsha Paul said the board will put the issue to voters at the annual town meeting this spring.

The day-to-day operations of the town are overseen by James Bates, the Board of Selectmen's administrative assistant. Bates needs selectmen approval for most decisions.
