Plainville voters will face override vote next month

Posted by Ralph Ranalli May 21, 2008 12:30 PM

A $650,000 Proposition 2 1/2 override cleared an initial hurdle at last night's Plainville Town Meeting, as members voted to appropriate the money for town departments.

The override now must be approved by town voters in a June 16 election.

Town Meeting members also approved taking nearly $51,000 out of the town's stabilization fund to add to next year's King Philip Regional School District budget. The move funds a 7.1 percent budget increase, which district officials had said was necessary to save five teaching position.
