Long weekends for Town Hall mark the start of post-override cuts in Upton

Posted by Ralph Ranalli June 24, 2008 09:08 AM

Town Hall will be closed on Fridays beginning next month due to budget-cutting measures that are the result of a $486,000 Proposition 2 1/2 override failing at the polls two weeks ago, Upton officials said.

The Upton Town Library will also reduce its Friday hours, closing at 2 p.m. instead of 4 p.m.

The changes are expected to last at least through the 2009 fiscal year, which ends next June. Two public works management positions are also being left unfilled as a result of the failed override officials said.
