Housing, parking, sidewalks eyed for Needham downtown

Posted by David Dahl, Regional Editor September 27, 2008 01:23 PM

Downtown Needham could get wider sidewalks, consolidated parking, more housing, and taller buildings under a plan presented by the Downtown Design Study Committee to the Board of Selectmen.

The Committee has brought together consultants, town planners, and the public since October 2006, to address improvements to a 54-acre section of downtown surrounding Town Hall. The plan is being finalized now, according to Planning Director Lee Newman, cq and Town Meeting will be asked to vote on the zoning changes that would help bring about the plan's recommendations some time next year.

For more information, go to the Planning Department section of the town’s website.
