Jobless rate up

Newton is doing well, compared with many other communities, but it's not immune from the general economic problems out there. The unemployment rate climbed from 2.8% last October to 3.3% this year.

The statewide rate was 5%, compared with 3.9% a year ago. Numbers for every community in the state are in this week's Your Town chart.
