Municipal group sees 'big year' for overrides

Posted by John C. Drake March 26, 2007 01:16 PM

The state lobbying group for local officials says it is now tracking 40 communities that are considering placing tax hike proposals on the ballot.

The Massachusetts Municipal Association says slowing growth in municipal revenues and increasing costs for health care and personnel are triggering the quick start to the override season.

The Override Central blog knows of about 20 towns that already have scheduled tax hike votes, including six this week. See the left rail of this blog for a list of upcoming votes.
