Concord approves override for new elementary school

Posted by David Dahl, Regional Editor November 14, 2007 11:44 PM

Concord residents on Wednesday approved a $29.4 million debt exclusion override in a special election for a new elementary school.

On the heels of a recent Town Meeting vote to support a new Willard School school, residents decided to move forward with the project by a vote of 2,160 to 1,200.

If the town does not receive any state assistance for the project, the median tax bill will go up by $370 to pay for the construction of the new school. The hike would kick in after July 2010 and gradually go down until the loan is paid off in 20 years.

Construction is expected to be completed by the fall of 2009.
