Sudbury voters reject overrides
Sudbury voters on Monday rejected ballot questions for an override, which proponents said would have helped save Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School District from making cuts to staff and programs.
The first question, which asked voters to decide on a $1.8 million override, failed by a vote of 1,770 in favor and 2,423 against during Monday''s town election, according to unofficial results from the town clerk's office.
The second question, which asked voters to decide on a $2.8 million override, also failed by 1,583 votes, according to the town clerk's office.
The override budgets included additional funding for the school system and municipal operations. Officials had said the school district may have to cut more than $1 million from its budget without an override as program costs and employee salaries have risen. Town officials said 38 percent of registered voters took part in the election.
