What Bose is looking for: People with a passion for innovation
Consider the following questions:
How do you make two speakers sound a lot more like five?
How do you customize the sound of an audio system for any room without ever being there?
How do you design a cars music system to automatically compensate for noise inside and outside of the car?
How do you create an electromagnetic suspension system for automobiles?
Its clear that Bose engineers arent just making speakers anymore. Theyre asking questions like these, and theyre discovering answers in software applications, DSP, RF, acoustics, and many other arenas. And still there are more questions.
So what we need are new ideas and different ways of thinking. What we have is an environment that encourages new approaches. Plus we have the time and resources to make them work.
And thats not just hype.
Were privately held, and we put 100% of our profits back into the company. As a result, youll find other like-minded individuals here. Men and women with talents in mechanical, electrical, acoustical, materials, software and manufacturing engineering. In fact, youll work with them. Hearing their ideas. Sharing yours.
A good fit
There are many kinds of people working at Bose, with a wide range of skills and talents. The kinds of people we're looking for are all individuals, but they have many traits in common:
Problem solvers: Bose employees are good at solving challenging, technical problems and they enjoy understanding problems from the most fundamental level. They want to work on new problems that no one has ever solved before. At Bose, they get a chance to do that.
Passionate: They all bring a passion to their work and love what they do. And they really like being able to do it in an environment surrounded by other people who are equally passionate, smart and talented.
Multidisciplinary: Most of the people at Bose do not fit into narrow, well-defined roles. They have wide-ranging interests, and they enjoy working on problems that involve multiple disciplines. Bose encourages that.
Courageous: Bose believes that in order to be better you must be different. But, in order to be different, you must be willing to try new things, explore new fields and ask tough questions.
Intelligent: Most of the people we hire are very smart, with a strong academic record.
Technically proficient: Most of the people we hire are also technically very qualified in their major field of study.
Creative: Many of the people here are tinkerers. As kids, they loved taking things apart. They want to know why things work the way they do, and how they can make them better. It's the spark that ignites their imagination.
Team player: As much as people at Bose are independent thinkers, they are also very good at working with other people, and accepting other ideas. They work well in a team.
Research-oriented: There are engineers working solely on research and development at Bose. They love working at a company that's driven by research and development.
Proud of their work: People here want to do their best at everything they undertake. They take pride in being able to see a product in a store, or someone's home, and say, "I worked on that."
Where do you fit in?
Opportunities for engineers exist in the many different departments at Bose, including Home Entertainment, Automotive, Manufacturing, and Research and Design Assurance. And were not hiring just engineers. While Research and Development is at the heart of Bose, we have opportunities that are equally challenging and exciting in our Finance, Marketing, Human Resources departments, and in multiple sales channels as well.
To keep Bose on the forefront of design and technology as we move forward, we are constantly seeking promising entry-level candidates who fit the above criteria. We may be making a visit to a campus near you, or you can visit us on the Web at Bose Corporation.
