First female president of Harvard University
Faust, a history scholar and former dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, became the first woman to lead Harvard in 2007.
The Cambridge school, however, is not the first Ivy League school to have a woman at the helm: The University of Pennsylvania appointed Judith Rodin to the post in 1993, and Brown University swore in President Ruth J. Simmons, the first woman of color to lead an Ivy, in 2001.
