1. Be prepared

Workers should prepare for the unexpected by always keeping their resume up-to-date. Although it may not be the best decision to jump ship as soon as things get a little rough, it is good to be prepared for an unexpected layoff or new opportunity that presents itself. Professionals should take the initiative to start building their personal brand, which is one of the first steps towards effectively marketing themselves to potential employers and elevating their career. Personal branding is an ongoing process that should exist throughout the job search process and professional career. The goal of establishing a strong personal brand is for professionals to differentiate themselves among other professionals by demonstrating a unique value to employers.
