Veterinarian Michael Schofield has worked with pigs and polar bears alike, but today he oversees 1,500 goats, including 60 genetically modified goats at GTC Biotherapeutics, Inc. Schofield had direction early -- he was just 7 years old, living next to a dairy farm, when he first proclaimed he wanted to be a vet.
