To become a gaming dealer, you must be knowledgeable about the rules of a variety of games. Dealers' job duties can include operating games by dispensing the correct numbers of cards or blocks, comparing the house's hand against players' hands, and paying off or collecting money or chips from players.

Dealers make up a large portion of the casino's employees. At Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut, which currently has 11,000 employees, 2,700 are dealers, said a spokesperson for Foxwoods. Annual salaries for dealers ranged from $13,170 to $17,530 in 2006, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Dealers' income is also supplemented by tips.
