The big hit
The failure of Amplitude and Frequency to make a large dent in the video game market made LoPiccolo more cautious about the success of the studio's 2005 game, Guitar Hero, which allowed players to play along with music tracks using a guitar-shaped controller. But despite the cautiousness, LoPiccolo still knew the studio had a great game on its hands. "Our mindset was, let's make games we believe in and like, throw them out there, and then see what happens."
Here's what happened: Guitar Hero has sold more than 1.5 million units, spawned sequels, and permeated the consciousness of mainstream America.
