Power Rangers
The Power Rangers stopped by for the fair’s opening on Sunday. Saban Brands, which owns the Power Rangers, is celebrating the franchise’s 20th anniversary with a new Nickelodeon series called Power Rangers Megaforce. The company also announced Tuesday a collaboration with USAopoly to create Power Rangers Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit board games.
Digital Barbie
Nothing says 2013 like Barbie in an electronic dress. The dress can be illuminated by 114 tri-color LEDs with built-in patterns, or the child can design whatever light display he or she wants.
Star Trek
Pictured is the Kre-O Star Trek USS Enterprise spaceship from Hasbro. Kre-O is a line of building blocks that’s similar to Lego.
Party Furby
What’s crazier than a Furby? A Furby party rocker. These brightly colored furry friends hung out in the Hasbro showroom on Sunday. They each have their own personalities and make good companions for Furby toys.
Everybody loves Elmo
Elmo is retro but relevant, which the Toy Industry Association said is one of this year’s biggest toy trends. Here, Big Hugs Elmo is introduced by a demonstrator.
New games from Twister
This is Twister with a whole new, um, twist. Hasbro debuted a whole new line of Twister Rave games at the Toy Fair, including Twister Dance Rave, being demonstrated here.
Transformers
Hasbro introduced the KRE-O Transformers Beast Hunters Micro Changers, which can be built as either robots or in alternate battle positions.
Littleist Pet Shop on the go
The Toy Industry Association said another big trend in toys this year is 24/7 play, which can mean toys that can be taken “on the go.” That’s exactly what the Littleist Pet Shop app is. Geared towards tweens, the app allows users to take their pet collection with them virtually with the help of a Pet Collector token found in each Littlest Pet Shop product they buy.
Wolverine mask
Ever wanted to be Wolverine? Now you can, with this Hasbro mask inspired by the upcoming film “The Wolverine.”
My Little Pony
This shimmering figure, My Little Pony’s latest, was on display in the Hasbro showroom.
Lego
The Toy Industry Association, citing NPD Group data, said the building sets category grew nearly 20 percent in 2012, a figure that’s expected to grow in 2013. It goes without saying that Lego is a leader in that category. The company introduced 33 new building sets based on its new original property Legends of Chima at the Toy Fair.
