According to Street & Smith’s Sports Business Daily, MLB payrolls rounded out at $3.1 billion this year, a 4.5 percent increase over last year. Coming out on top are the Los Angeles Dodgers, with a payroll of $213 million. The Houston Astros collectively make $32 million—the least in the league. In New York, the Yankees have the league’s second highest payroll with an estimated $210 million to spend on staff.
The Red Sox, who’s most recent record of 69-93 gave them their worst season since 1965, saw payroll fall 13.4 percent to $150 million.
