It looks like the Somerville storefront of Kickass Cupcakes has closed its doors.

Boston Restaurant Talkreports that the bakery has a closed sign on its door and boxes and containers littered around its floor. Boston.com confirmed that the voicemail at the location was full on Wednesday afternoon and its facebook page was no where to be found.

Kickass Cupcakes has also operated a food truck that has at times stopped on the plaza outside the Harvard Science Center. It remains unclear whether the truck is still in use.

The company recently moved back to the 199C Highland Avenue space where it baked its desserts. It had previously had another storefront location at 378 Highland Avenue, where it sold its cupcakes from 2012 to earlier this year.

If the cupcake bakery has indeed closed for good, it would be the second renowned chain to fold this summer. Crumbs, another bakery famed for its circular cakes, closed all its locations around the country during early July citing massive losses from the last few years. The company was credited for popularizing the delectable dessert.

It seems that the cupcake bubble may be bursting.
