Rivier College appoints trustee

NASHUA -- Rivier College in Nashua has named attorney Linda S. Johnson to the board of trustees. Johnson is a director of the law firm McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, where she is the firm's lead employment lawyer. She previously served on Rivier's board from 2000 to 2001.

Two awards for reducing toxins

LOWELL -- The University of Massachusetts at Lowell's Toxics Use Reduction Institute last week awarded the town of Westford and Vicor Corp. of Andover 2006 Champions of Toxins Use Reduction Awards. Vicor revamped its entire product line and found safer alternatives to lead and hexavalent chromium used in manufacturing, according to an announcement by UMass-Lowell. The company also volunteered to share with over 50 Massachusetts companies how it accomplished this task. Westford was recognized for its Healthy Lawns for Healthy Families project, which aims to reduce pesticide use in nine towns: Acton, Ayer, Boxborough, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Groton, Harvard, and Littleton.

Wetmore leases added space

WOBURN -- Wetmore Co. has agreed to lease 9,136 square feet at 10 Micro Drive. The packaging company will use the space to expand its current operations at 9 Micro Drive. The lease was negotiated by Nordblom Corfac International with the landlord, Bandon Dunes LLC.
