McNiff is named Rotary president

John "Doc" McNiff is the new president of the Acton-Boxborough Rotary Club. McNiff grew up in Acton and was an Acton police officer for 34 years. He is now retired.

Hologic purchases California company

Hologic Inc., a Bedford-based supplier of imaging systems for the diagnosis of women's diseases, has agreed to acquire BioLucent Inc. of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and its breast-cushion product line for mammography equipment. The value of the acquisition, which is expected to close by the end of the third quarter this year, is about $70 million, Hologic said.

Northbridge wins award for condos

Northbridge Cos. of Burlington recently received a best condominium development award from the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of New Hampshire for Annandale on the River, an adult community in Litchfield, N.H. Northbridge is the owner-developer of that complex as well as other communities for seniors throughout New England.
