COBURG, Ore.—Monaco Coach Corp. is cutting 600 jobs in Oregon and Indiana.
The recreational vehicle company says the layoffs represent about 12 percent of its workforce. The cuts are roughly equal in both states. The company says the layoffs are among administrative and production employees.
Monaco announced the decision Friday. The cuts are effective immediately.
Monaco spokesman Craig Wanichek (WAHN-uh-chek) says it was a difficult decision but declining consumer confidence and rising oil prices have hurt business.
