Opening Glance: Gold-mining shares fall in early trading

NEW YORK—Shares of gold-mining companies fell Tuesday shortly after the opening bell as the price of the metal declined.

Gold traded in London at $886.00 per troy ounce, down from $890.10 late Monday. In Zurich, gold traded at $883.80 bid per troy ounce, down from $892.65.

Here is how some gold miners are trading:

Goldcorp Inc. fell 53 cents to $35.55

Gold Fields Ltd. fell 32 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $13.50

Newmont Mining Corp. fell 77 cents to $43.22

Barrick Gold Corp. fell 95 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $38.15.
