CAI International raises 2008 guidance above analyst view

SAN FRANCISCO—CAI International Inc. on Wednesday raised its 2008 earnings prediction, citing its strong finances and expected gains from a new acquisition.

CAI, a freight container leasing and management company, said it now expects to post a 2008 profit $1.38 to $1.43 per share, up from its previous prediction of $1.30 to $1.35 per share.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect a profit of $1.31 per share for the year.

CAI shares fell 5 cents to close at $14.70.
