Opening Glance: Insurers mostly fall

NEW YORK—Shares of insurers were mixed early Wednesday morning as property and casualty insurer Cincinnati Financial Corp. said it lost $42 million during the first quarter because of losses in its investment portfolio and declining premiums.

Here's how some insurers performed shortly after the market opened:

Cincinnati Financial fell 80 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $36.73.

American International Group Inc. fell 67 cents to $46.33.

Progressive Corp. fell 19 cents to $18.63.

Bond insurer Ambac Financial Group Inc. rose 26 cents, or 5.9 percent, to $4.64.
