Opening Glance: Utility company stocks open mixed

NEW YORK—Shares of utility companies opened mixed Wednesday as newly released data showed the U.S. economy barely growing.

Here is how some utility companies are trading:

American Electric Power Co. Inc. rose 13 cents to $44.79

Pepco Holdings Inc. fell 4 cents to $24.85

Consolidated Edison Inc. rose 10 cents to $41.68

Southern Co. rose 62 cents to $337.39.
