Closing Glance: Utility company stocks close higher
NEW YORK—Shares of utility companies closed mostly higher Friday even as investor enthusiasm ebbed and flowed for a government report that showed the nation's employers cut far fewer jobs than expected last month.
Here is how some utilities fared:
American Electric Power Co. Inc. rose 22 cents to $45.09
Pepco Holdings Inc. rose 49 cents to $25.92
Consolidated Edison Inc. rose 27 cents to $42.49
Southern Co. rose 19 cents to $37.11.
