Markel board elects vice chairman and president, COO

RICHMOND, Va.—Markel Corp., a specialty insurer, said Friday Anthony Markel has been named vice chairman and Paul Springman president and chief operating officer.

Markel has been with the company for more than 40 years, most recently serving as president and COO.

Springman has been serving as executive vice president at the company since 2002.
