NEW YORK—Household-durables stocks were mixed Tuesday as investors tried to look past record-high oil prices and steep corporate losses, including a nearly $11 billion loss at UBS AG.

Here's how some stocks of household-durables companies traded :

Black & Decker Corp., down 23 cents to $67.15.

Whirlpool Corp., up 10 cents to $73.78.

Snap-on Inc., up 40 cents to $60.26.

Stanley Works, down 14 cents to $49.55.
