Opening Glance: Microchip shares fall with broader market

NEW YORK—Shares of major microchip companies fell with the wider technology market Tuesday morning as disappointing quarterly results from Swiss bank UBS and mortgage lender Fannie Mae added to recession fears.

How the major chip companies fared in trading Tuesday morning:

Intel Corp. fell 11 cents to $23.14.

Texas Instruments Inc. fell 34 cents to $28.93.

Qualcomm Inc. fell 37 cents to $43.63.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. fell 1 cent to $6.52.
