AT&T Inc. fell 55 cents to $39.30.

Sprint Nextel Corp. fell 16 cents to $8.56.

Verizon Communications Inc. fell 29 cents to $38.61.

Qwest Communications International Inc. fell 32 cents, or 6 percent, to $5.04.
