Midwest Air Group traffic falls 2.6 percent in April

MILWAUKEE—Midwest Air Group Inc. said Wednesday its traffic fell 2.6 percent last month as the carrier filled fewer seats.

April traffic dipped to 393 million revenue passenger miles, from 403.5 million a year earlier. A revenue passenger mile accounts for one paying passenger flown one mile.

Midwest increased capacity 5.9 percent to 510.6 million available seat miles from 481.9 million a year before.

The carrier's load factor, a measure of occupancy, dropped 6.7 percentage points to 77 percent.

For the full year, Midwest said traffic is up 3.6 percent to 1.49 billion revenue passenger miles. Capacity jumped 10.1 percent to 2.08 billion available seat miles during the period, while occupancy is down 4.4 percentage points to 71.8 percent.
