Opening Glance: Health stocks edge up in Wednesday trading

NEW YORK—Health care stocks generally traded higher Wednesday, with gainers including Patterson Cos. and Quest Diagnostics Corp.

In earnings news, MedCath Corp. posted results relatively in line with its April preannouncement.

Here's how some health care providers and service company stocks fared in morning trading:

Patterson picked up 23 cents to $35.43.

UnitedHealth Group Inc. gained 24 cents to $33.04.

Quest Diagnostics added 19 cents to $50.27.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. lost 22 cents, or 3.7 percent, to $5.79.
