Powell Industries raises full-year profit and sales outlook

HOUSTON—Energy equipment company Powell Industries Inc. on Wednesday raised its full-year outlook after fiscal second-quarter profit soared on strong demand for electrical power products.

For the full year, Powell expects earnings between $1.85 per share and $2.10 per share, versus the $1.90 per share expected by analysts polled by Thomson Financial.

Powell forecast sales between $650 million and $660 million.

Previously, Powell forecast fiscal 2008 earnings of $1.65 to $1.90 per share, and sales of $625 million to $650 million.
