SYRACUSE, N.Y.—ABC News has chosen Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications as one of five colleges where the network will open an on-campus bureau run by students.

Syracuse officials say the ABC bureau will open in September and provide an opportunity for students to report on breaking news stories in the area and produce original daily content for various ABC News digital and broadcast outlets, including "Good Morning America," "World News with Charles Gibson," and "Nightline."

ABC says the initiative will provide unique insight into what America's 33 million 18-to-25 year-olds are thinking.

The four other schools are Arizona State, University of Florida, University of North Carolina and University of Texas.

ABC is owned by the Walt Disney Co.
