Closing Glance: Rails rise as traffic up, shippers fall

NEW YORK—Shares of railroads finished higher Thursday as the American Association of Railroads said freight traffic rose last week.

Shippers pulled back as oil and gasoline prices both hit records again.

Here's how major players ended Thursday:

Union Pacific Corp., up $2.12 to $147.19.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., up $1.35 to $103.78.

CSX Corp., up $1.22, or 2 percent, to $64.03.

FedEx Corp., down 54 cents to $93.21.

United Parcel Service Inc., down 51 cents to $71.07.
